State AdvocacyVMBA Day on the Hill
The VMBA Day on the Hill is a critical component of our overall advocacy efforts. The Virginia economy depends on mortgage solutions VMBA members provide to Virginia’s residents. We need to have face-to-face dialogues with our state representatives so that they better understand the key issues impacting our industry, thus enabling them to make informed legislative decisions to help VMBA members maintain a favorable lending environment. VMBA Day on the Hill is generally held in January each year and includes legislative briefing over breakfast, followed by face-to-face visits with legislators. A networking reception is usually held the night before. The 2025 VMBA Day on the Hill was held January 16, 2025. National AdvocacyThe VMBA works closely with the Mortgage Bankers Association on federal legislative issues affecting the mortgage industry. This includes participation in the MBA's National Advocacy Conference where Virginia mortgage lenders have the opportunity to meet policymakers at the federal level. You can become involved by joining the Mortgage Action Alliance (MAA). See more information about MAA below.
