For over 60 years, the VMBA has been the only association focused exclusively on representing Virginia mortgage industry's interests before the Virginia General Assembly and regulators.
VMBA Political Action Committee (VAMPAC)Public policy is determined through the political process. VAMPAC is your voice through that process. VAMPAC is the Virginia Mortgage Bankers Association’s Political Action Committee. Few other industries are as heavily regulated as the mortgage industry; therefore, it is critical that candidates who support our mortgage banking system be elected. VAMPAC provides financial support to those candidates. Every year is an election year in Virginia, so it is essential that the VMBA be politically involved so that your voice is heard. The VMBA Day on the Hill is a critical component of our overall advocacy efforts. The Virginia economy depends on mortgage solutions VMBA members provide to Virginia’s residents. We need to have face-to-face dialogues with our state representatives so that they better understand the key issues impacting our industry, thus enabling them to make informed legislative decisions to help VMBA members maintain a favorable lending environment. VMBA Day on the Hill is generally held in January each year and includes legislative briefing over breakfast, followed by face-to-face visits with legislators. A networking reception is usually held the night before. The 2026 VMBA Day on the Hill was held February 5, 2026. National AdvocacyThe VMBA works closely with the Mortgage Bankers Association on federal legislative issues affecting the mortgage industry. This includes participation in the MBA's National Advocacy Conference where Virginia mortgage lenders have the opportunity to meet policymakers at the federal level.
